an idea only to entertain

So I did get some feedback about the idea of not sending out cards. I know that it was only an idea and that on Thursday Kev and I, during our foray into the world of errands, will get some holiday stationary, envelopes and stamps. We will make sure we have ink for the printer and the letter will go out. I got inspired after reading Mir's site yesterday. She loathes those holiday letters. She finds them boastful and pretentious. So she, being newly married, decided to tell it like it is. She wrote two versions of the letter. One was veto'd. I liked that version best. :)

So I decided to write a letter. Keep it simple, funny (hopefully), and quick (when have those of you who know me known me to be quick?!?).

If you don't know me, but you want a copy of the letter, tell me and I'll email it to you. Yeah, stamps are for those who I know? I'm cheap? We've got a crazy new mortgage? Our list is already as long as my arm?

Okay, I'm at work and I'd so be fired if I got busted posting the my blog (okay, maybe not really). Although I did just post to the clog blog.

blustery

It's a windy day here in Portland. It will make waiting for the bus interesting and cold. I am heading downtown to make my statement in a identity theft attempt (I'd had a post up, but then took it down...I felt it was better to not have it out there for some reason).

Kev and Reggie are up in Seattle, heading home today. They went up yesterday to see Ween play last night. I'm sure they had a great time. I'm sure I'll hear all about it over sushi tonight. Reggie heads out tomorrow for Spokane and is back on Sunday before he heads back to Jersey on Monday. Kev's had a great time with his friend visiting.

Nothing fabulous and fun to post. Although I did get my hair cut...

Pictures will follow later today.

if anything

We looked at eight houses today. One was nice, I could have easily seen living there. However, it didn't feel like all that much more home than what we have now. It was just renovated and beautiful. So, we hold out hope that our first love can become ours.

We've got yet another showing today. One of these days, the person who is supposed to live here, is going to come through and we'll get that call. Just cross those fingers that that one day is sooner than later.

In other news (what, there is other stuff happening besides just house stuff...even though that has been all consuming) we both finished the Harry Potter book. The last Harry Potter book. Don't worry, won't spill any beans here. I've already got emails out to four friends who read it saying "when you are done, let's chat" and Becky and I have already started doing just that.

It is sad to see the series end, but at the same time it feels right.

house

Well, the list we made at the beginning of this whole house selling thing is rapidly becoming nothing but a big black mark. I just took a photo of it but can't seem to email it from my phone. Oh well. It's pretty impressive.

Kev is rockin' the exhaust fan in the bathroom. He started the project yesterday before his double header basketball night. They lost the first game, won the second. I didn't go. Figured he could use some "him" time. Anyway, before he left he started cutting the wood surround for the fan. This week he'll finish caulking and then paint it.

Next week we get the pictures taken of the house. There will still be a few things we have to take care of before we list the 11th, but with an entire weekend off (me) things should be done before we know it.

Okay, must get ready for work. Boring post, I know...

woke up dreaming

I've not dreamt and woken exhausted in quite some time. Last night broke that draught. I had a dream that I was back in college. It was the first day and I had looked at my schedule prior to leaving my dorm room. I left it there, sure I would remember all of my five (!) classes I was to go to. Between classes I realize this is not going to happen and I'm an idiot for not bringing my schedule. I have ten minutes between classes that are across campus from one another. To top it off I am wearing black patent high heels. I'm swearing to those around me that they are really comfortable as I am screaming through campus trying to make it to some Female African Art class.

I think I need a nap.

Thankfully there is nothing pressing to do at the office and so I am working most of the day from home (I went in to capture images of the clogs I had to list at our site today before coming home). The painters should be here soon to paint the eaves. I might bust out the sander and finish the door I started a couple of years ago. Yes, the front door. It's red, but splotchy. Sabo, the painter, offered to do it for me, but I told him I had started it so I had to finish it. I think it made him shake his head a little (we were on the phone so this is just a guess).

hard

It is a beautiful day outside. I am inside, sadly. I've created another ad for yet another publication and I have at least two more to do...soon.

I missed Mah Jong Monday at my friends house last night. Ah well. Our set arrived yesterday so we'll soon be able to host our own Mah Jong nights. It's much fun.

It's hard to concentrate with the sun in the sky. I hear the approach of my coworker...I must get back to work.

pull my finger

You Are a Pinky

You are fiercely independent, and possibly downright weird.
A great communicator, you can get along with almost anyone.
You are kind and sympathetic. You support all your friends - and love them for who they are.

You get along well with: The Ring Finger

Stay away from: The Thumb

randomness

~ I got a call from our vet today just to check on Josie and to tell me about her labs. Wow. I really like our vet quite a bit. I told her she is the reason we keep going back to the office. She and the office staff. She was blushing on the other end of the phone.

~ As the day progresses my stomach has been feeling less and less happy. I keep getting told to drink tea, put on my scarf, take it easy, _________ (fill in the blank). My throat is also feeling a bit nasty, that lovely postnasal drip crap.

~ The thought of sitting and knitting sounds so yummy right now. Although when I get home just sitting might be happening. Sometimes, when I'm not feeling grand, knitting takes too much energy.

~ It has been raining nonstop today. Normally we have a bit of a break here and there, but not today. It's been just ugly out. Of course it is Portland in the winter...so I shouldn't complain.

~ I can hardly believe this is my third post of the day. Funny thing, none have been stellar. All have been boring and random. Which is to say my life is rather boring and random these days?

~ Celery is the best thing on the face of the planet right now. I actually am wanting some right now, but with the lack of a good grocery store downtown and none in my fridge...probably won't be having any today. Ah well.

~ Josie's pills almost cost $80.00 until the pharmacist at Rite Aide told me they would price match if I wanted to take all the time to call around...I did and it cost not even $15.00! Oh yeah, always call around!

~ Time has flown today. I'm nearing the last two hours of my day at work. This brings me joy.

hack hack sniffle

I am NOT getting sick. There, I said it. I may be coughing this morning and having to blow my nose, but I am NOT getting sick. I refuse! It used to be I could convince my body to not get sick simply by saying those words (or at least it seemed like that was what happened since I felt sick, I said those words with conviction, I stopped feeling sick). Lucky for me, I am only on the floor today and Saturday. Although I'd really prefer to not get sick since this week will be filled with much work on window displays and just general running around. I am thinking on Thursday, after yoga, Jill and I will run to the hardware store to get some things I need for the first display at the new store. I want to run her by the shop so she can see what we are working with (I say we and I when talking with her about the displays as well...she's helping, which I appreciate so very much).

So, I can't get sick. I have too much crap to do.

I drank an Emergen-C this morning so I hope that helps...

I am NOT getting sick.

sheep

I clicked and here I am...at the NEW blogger.

I am a sheep.

The upside of being a sheep, I can produce my own wool (and that shit gets expensive!). The downside of being a sheep...I'm a sheep.

I am going to post a photo of the hat. You know, the one I made lovingly for my dear husband that would have covered his entire face and made him get hit by a car cuz he couldn't see it while crossing the road? Yeah, that hat.

Interesting. When uploading a photo...it makes you click by a "I accept the terms" box for photos.

Anyway, the hat. Keep in mind, it's a flipped up brim. Keep in mind that I don't do drugs, but as Jen said "The only appropriate caption for that is "Duuuuuuuude.""

This was taken with Ahmed's phone. Oddity: the phone actually flipped the image horizontally. It should not look as though the racks of clogs are behind MY left shoulder, they were in fact behind my right. Ah well.

Enjoy your laughter...
